A Question for my Readers: SWTOR?

Star Wars The Old Republic

So I have a question for all of you…

If you’ve been here awhile then you know Loregy is technically a site about game lore in general; I just happen to talk about WoW most of the time since I know that’s what you enjoy.  For the past few months though, I’ve been trying out the Star Wars: The Old Republic beta, and I have to say, Wow, what a game!  As it is, I’m only familiar with the game up to level 20 or so with each class, but from what I’ve seen, if you’re a lore-junkie then SWTOR is the game for you.  The sheer amount of detail that has gone into the storytelling is mind-boggling.  In fact, it’s so good that I’m considering diving deep into the lore.  The problem with Star Wars lore is the meat of it spans over 5000 years, and no one can seem to agree on what’s canon other than the movies.  With Old Republic though, the lore is more contained, and easy to discuss.  And that leads us to my question.

How would you guys and gals feel about me writing more often about SWTOR?  I’ll still of course talk about WoW… but the SWTOR posts might be just as frequent.  Thoughts?

I feel like as far as SWTOR goes we know how it will all play out, and we know that the bad guys sort of win in that Era of star wars. You may try writing about it of course since I won’t be playing it, and it could be very interesting to hear about. Speculation for WoW has gotten much harder over the years I think since of course its Blizzard that we are talking about, and you know how they are.

Seems fine to me. Intelligent discussion is intelligent discussion, and valued no matter the topic.

I say, “Go for it.”

I haven’t trusted Lucas since he sprang the Ewoks on us, so if someone out there is willing to wade through SW lore (and risk the terror of coming face-to-face with the occasional Jar-Jar) I would consider that a public service!

I do not enjoy the game at all, but you are absolutely right in saying that if you are a story junkie, SW:TOR is what you’re looking for. This being said, I am a moderate fan of the Star Wars Universe, so even if I won’t play the game, I’m sure I’ll find your articles very interesting! So yes, like Jeff said above me, Go for it.

Meh I won’t be playing. Not because I don’t enjoy the Franchise (well most of it anyways… by the way for little girls seeing Ewoks was a freaking dream come true! They were fuzzy, cuddly and determined! I have a lot of love for those little furry guys!)…. I digest. (ten points if you get that round about Star Wars joke!)

I won’t be playing for the simple fact I don’t have time. If it wasn’t for the fact that I was getting D3 with a year’s subscription for free I probably wouldn’t have gotten that either. It all sounds interesting but with my limited time to play I just don’t see the point of getting into another game at this time. I still have several PS3 games that i have yet to finish.

I think even though I do not play it its still cool to talk about it. The game looks very interesting.

I think you should write about what you’re interested in. Now of course, you have an audience that might expect certain material (probably mostly WoW), but people are pliable. You may even interest others in trying out SWTOR for themselves. I’ve tried the Beta and was intrigued, so I’ll likely give the game a whirl. But even if I didn’t, I’d still be interested in reading about the lore.

On a WoW note, I’d like to hear your thoughts regarding the inclusion of “Well of Eternity” with Queen Azshara as a heroic dungeon in 4.3.

I’d love to read your writing about TOR. +1

If it’s as detailed and thoughtout as your WoW reports then they’ll be great, can’t say I’m a massive Star Wars lore fan(I played over the beta weekend test and was more impressed with the gameplay) but you write so well it’ll be great!

Well it looks like I’ll be writing a bit about SWTOR on top of the WoW posts. Thank you for your replies! But also feel free to keep them coming; I’ll still be watching this thread.

Evidently a part in my last post was spoken in ignorance; you do not kill Azshara in “Well of Eternity”. Just goes to show I still need Knaak’s book (and play the instances before I assume what’s in them).

It’s all good. The way you wrote it, I thought you just wanted to know in general what I thought, so I wasn’t sure what I should talk about. 😉

Go for it dude, given your WoW analysis and theory, I’d love to hear your thoughts on what Revan’s been up to the last 300 years

From what i’ve learned Revan was kinda removed from most of the story since it’s about (lucky guess) 285 years after he died.
